I 99% (or so, remember Joe the Plumber, how about Durr? DePerno, who received the unusual endorsement of Michigan GOP Co-Chair Meshawn Maddock, despite there being two other candidates in the race, told his supporters to register for conventions in each of Michigan’s 83 counties, where delegates for the statewide endorsement convention will be selected. During a rally last weekend with President Donald Trump, DePerno told his supporters to “storm” the conventions, and his campaign has set up a website with the same message. “Every one of you delegates, raise your hand right now. I need every one of you to go to county conventions on April 11. It’s time we storm the convention,” DePerno said. “And if you’re not a delegate, you still need to go to county convention. It is time to storm the convention.” The other Republicans seeking the nomination are former House Speaker Tom Leonard (R-DeWitt) or state Rep. Ryan Berman (R-Commerce Twp.). Republican precinct delegates and officeholders will meet at county conventions Monday to select who to send to the statewide endorsement convention on April 23 in Grand Rapids. Under the rules set by the Michigan Republican Party, those precinct delegates elected in the August 2020 primary are given preference to become delegates to the statewide convention. We have more than A DOZEN people running for MIGOV on MIGOP side for 2022 to oust #WHITLER… I’ve been on this issue for years, will really push it this time asking about it over and over and over every time I can corner a Candidate about it in front of a crowd….IF NOT ELIMINATE it for those over 65yo, it needs to be DRASTICALLY REDUCED (say 50% further exemption (cut current SEV by 50%, which would then be like assessed at 25% value)) at least!!!

@JLenardDetroit We still have them in TX, but if you have a homestead exemption they will freeze them when you are 65 or older. We have also voted in to keep them frozen at the current rate when one spouse dies (and the other is under 65), and when a disabled veteran dies (who was also given some exemptions), so that the surviving spouse isn’t hit with a suddenly higher mortgage.

So I added more (in response to another that whined that a $50K exemption, if we did it by dollar amount exemption off even the SEV assessment)…..

If a Senior is living in a $ 200 k plus home they could likely downgrade to a $ 100 k smaller one and w/ $ 50 k exemption would have FAR MORE REASONABLE Property Tax Bill.THIS DISCUSSION OBVIOUSLY, but not for some, IS A DISCUSSION OF REASONABLE STATES TO BEGIN WITH and certainly NOT places like CA, NJ, NY, etc…. If you have pathetic high Property Value and Taxes in those States or other BLUE CITIES in other States….. MOVE! GET THE BLEEP OUT for somewhere more reasonable……. NO, IF we allow them to raise the Sales Tax by just 0.1% won’t add much at check-outs and WILL NOT FULLY OFFSET/SHIFT (as the original Prop-A did) THE ENTIRE COST OF CUTTING PROPERTY TAXES FOR SENIORS TO HELP THEM STAY IN THEIR HOMES (often paid for, but that they cannot afford the “RENT” idiots in Govt charge via Property Taxes and have their Homes FORECLOSED UPON)! And it SHOULD NOT be fully paid for, offset, shifted, BUDGET CUTS elsewhere should be made to offset the Costs…. We are LONG OVERDUE for BUDGET CUTS anyway…. Govt, Local, State, Federal, has got to go on a Fiscal DIET and start learning to do within its (rather, our, the Taxpayers,) means and what we can afford…….

Sadly, unless something drastic changes (I could be wrong, I HOPE that I will be shown wrong, but years of correct predictions demonstrates I'm likely right), YES (the field will split to Vote) giving Craig the nomination (though, let me be FAIR, I frankly think that CRAIG will be a better Candidate (in some respects) than SCHUETTE (full of Duty, who I did priorly support and helped get elected as AG (and he turned into massive disappointment) was)! We need an END to these either NEXT IN LINE nomination non-senses and/or INSIDER CHOICE nominations.
