This year, Michigan voters will have the opportunity to vote for 2 people for the Michigan Supreme Court. The Supreme Court is the State's highest court, and has the final say over the interpretation of the Michigan Constitution and Michigan law. To understand its importance, it was the Michigan Supreme Court that struck down Governor Whitmer's COVID-19 shut down orders. It has 7 members.
Two incumbents are running for re-election. Justice Brian Zahra and Justice Richard Bernstein. Justice Zahra is strong rule of law Justice who has served ably on the Supreme Court and is its longest serving member. Justice Bernstein is running for re-election for the first time.
Each party nominates 2 Justices to run on the general ballot. Justice Zahra will be nominated at the Republican Convention and Justice Bernstein will be nominated by the Democrats. Each party will nominate a second candidate to run with its respective incumbent. (At the time of the election, the party designation disappears, but incumbents are designated.)
Democrat nominated Justices currently hold a 4-3 majority of the Supreme Court, which means this is a pivotal year. If Justice Bernstein is defeated, the majority would switch back to the Republican nominated Justices. If Justice Zahra loses, the Democrat nominated Justices would hold a commanding 5-2 position.
The Republican Party will be holding an Endorsement Convention on April 23, 2022. Whoever is nominated at the April Convention will be on the general election ballot in November. (There is an August Convention, but that is a mere formality).
Full disclosure, I am running to be Justice Zahra's running mate. I hope to have your support. This is why:

#KentajiBrownJackson hearings & #SCOTUS appointment should be CHALLENGED IN #COURT. There's NO SEAT OPEN yet. #Breyer announced FUTURE #RETIREMENT but NOT STEPPED DOWN FROM #BENCH! How can someone be appointed, yet, to a SEAT NOT YET OPEN? #ConstitutionalCrisis invalid #CourtPacking
They know a #RedWave2022 is coming, and RUSHED this to nominate and try to elevate (to a NON-OPEN-SEAT) #KBJ as the MOST RADICAL LIBERAL ACTIVIST #JUSTICE in the history (more RADICAL (a PedoApologist) than #Kegan and/or #Sotomayor (maybe even them combined)) of the nation to replace Moderate Breyer before they lose control of #USSenate in 2023 and they would NOT GET A RADICAL THROUGH! You know DAMN WELL that the #FASCICRATS would try that angle!!!
I 99% (or so, remember Joe the Plumber, how about Durr? The Trucker that knocked off the NJ House (or 2nd in command) leader? and even though #Trump was #POTUS45 I still think of him as the OUTSIDER I AM SUPPORTING FOR 2024, etc) of the time SUPPORT THE OUTSIDER CANDIDATE(s). This shows why it cannot be 100% of the time. I am still supporting KRISTINA KARAMO (see: https://jlenarddetroit.locals.com/post/1446811/the-attached-advertisement-for-kristina-karamo-is-wrong-see-image) and any number of the Outsiders Candidates in the MIGov race (makes ZERO SENSE to pick one yet, until we see who makes the filing requirements/deadline) but heavily leaning toward Trump favorite Tudor Dixon. BUT, remember, a POTUS45 endorsement isn't INFALABLE! He just pulled his Mo Brooks endorsement, he should have never given in the first place, and he'd endorsed Luther Strange, MITT ROMNEY, Ronna for RNC, need I go on? He still is making TOO EARLY CHOICES based on BAD ADVICE OF OTHERS! Sadly, another reason why Tom should NOT drop out, who President Trump tried to appoint during his term to a Post that STABYANOW AND PETERS blocked (under USSenate Rules) or Tom would've been another one of the many Trump appointees in Office now/already! DePerno shows, again, his UNHINGED side (acting more like a ranting/raving FASCICRATS SNOWFLAKE than a serious Candidate) with this INCITING RIOTS/VIOLENCE! Again, said this over and over on the radio, in emails, in phone conversations, I could/would support someone, well I would have before this GOING WAY TOO FAR, could have supported someone with wild antics, hyperbole, etc, for MIHouse, MISenate, or even a Congressional seat, but he shows time and time again HE IS NOT A SERIOUS PERSON and unqualified to be TOP LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER OF MICHIGAN (while inciting Riotous behavior)! LET ME REPEAT AGAIN, said this over and over on the radio, in emails, in phone conversations, I could/would support someone, well I would have before this GOING WAY TOO FAR, could have supported someone with wild antics, hyperbole, etc, for MIHouse, MISenate, or even a Congressional seat, but he shows time and time again HE IS NOT A SERIOUS PERSON and unqualified to be TOP LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER OF MICHIGAN (while inciting Riotous behavior)! And for those who feel you cannot Vote for Tom for whatever reason, yes, I get it, he's been around a long time, he's certainly NOT A RINO but by definition of his long term Service is THE INSIDER in the Race, so Vote for that other (3rd) guy!! This article was in the Snyde Report (gary@snydereport.com) (DEMOCRAT based) and was originally from Michigan Advance (DEMOCRAT based) - OH, I'm not talking about the STORMING part, I'm not even talking about the Meshawn Maddock part, (or Ron Weiser trying to persuade Tom Leonard to "drop out" of the AG race), I'm talking about the "15% Hard Working Republicans" part. Go to "Michigan Precinct First" Click on Conventions and there is no mention of this rule or how an outcome could be pre-determined by "packing" the vote. I have asked many long-term, smart, active, informed precinct delegates and everyone is familiar with the term, "Hard Working Republicans" but not the 15% (some thought it was 10%) or how they get chosen. JUST SAYING! In my quest to learn and be accurate about the information I share, if anyone knows where to find the ULTIMATE GOP RULES & GUIDELINES book, please pass that information on to me, and other eager-to-learn folks who are struggling! It's hard to help win the game when the rules are hidden! And while I'm on a rant, Who selected the people on the Michigan committee that voted NOT to use paper ballots at the state convention? I understand that some of those positions are filled by Party executives but I don't recall ever having had the opportunity to vote for or against the others representing (?) me. Margaret APRIL 8, 2022 1:41 PM Michigan Advance michiganadvance . com Republican candidate for attorney general Matt DePerno is urging his supporters to “storm” Republican county conventions across the state. DePerno, who received the unusual endorsement of Michigan GOP Co-Chair Meshawn Maddock, despite there being two other candidates in the race, told his supporters to register for conventions in each of Michigan’s 83 counties, where delegates for the statewide endorsement convention will be selected. During a rally last weekend with President Donald Trump, DePerno told his supporters to “storm” the conventions, and his campaign has set up a website with the same message. “Every one of you delegates, raise your hand right now. I need every one of you to go to county conventions on April 11. It’s time we storm the convention,” DePerno said. “And if you’re not a delegate, you still need to go to county convention. It is time to storm the convention.” The other Republicans seeking the nomination are former House Speaker Tom Leonard (R-DeWitt) or state Rep. Ryan Berman (R-Commerce Twp.). Republican precinct delegates and officeholders will meet at county conventions Monday to select who to send to the statewide endorsement convention on April 23 in Grand Rapids. The nominee will face Democratic Attorney General Dana Nessel in November. Under the rules set by the Michigan Republican Party, those precinct delegates elected in the August 2020 primary are given preference to become delegates to the statewide convention. Under a “hard-working Republicans” rule, however, the county convention could choose to allocate up to 15% of its statewide convention seats to people who are not precinct delegates but would be treated as if they are. If enough elected delegates at a county convention favored DePerno, they could select to send non-delegates who would also support their candidate of choice rather than other elected precinct delegates who may support Leonard or Berman instead. Usually, candidates for attorney general and secretary of state would be selected at August nominating conventions, shortly after new precinct delegates were elected in the August primary. This year, however, the Republican Party opted to hold an early endorsement convention in a bid to give the candidates more time to build their general election campaigns. Michigan Democrats used a similar strategy in 2018 when seats were open due to term limits. Maddock also endorsed Kristina Karamo for secretary of state over state Rep. Beau LaFave (R-Iron Mountain) and Chesterfield Township Clerk Cindy Berry. Some candidates had already questioned the fairness of the convention following Maddock’s endorsements, leading some to speculate that a candidate who loses at the endorsement convention could continue their campaigns into the August nominating convention. “At the end of the day, frankly, I think it’s going to backfire on her,” LaFave said following Maddock’s endorsement Karamo. “Everyone that loses at convention is going to be upset by the appearance of impropriety, even if one does not manifest itself at convention. So I’m sure that when I win at convention, everybody that doesn’t win is going to be very upset.”
Exactly (see attached image from FascistBook)...
@Michael Warren PROVEN CONSTITUTIONALIST!!!
I'm not going to mention a name, but I heard another person who threw his hat in the ring to try and replace Bernstein. Only say this to demonstrate how RIGHT Judge Warren is for this Job, versus others who supposedly claim to be "Rule Of Law" Judges also. This new entrant during a recent Q&A session I was fortunate enough to be part of went ON AND ON ABOUT PRECEDENT!! Buzz... WRONG ANSWER!!! BAD PRECEDENCE never, ever, trumps CONSTITUTION. Bad rulings and established "case-law" set by lower activist courts are where the SUPREME COURT are meant to go TO DIE (to be OVER-TURNED) not given "credence!" Remember, DredScott was once PRECEDENCE! Do people want to return to that? Was that not FINALLY and properly met by a Supreme Court that finally Ruled BY THE CONSTITUTION and not Activist sentiments?!?! That answer, of course, is YES. I opposed Justice Kavanaugh for the very same reasons: his endless discussion and hiding behind precedence and therefore his potential willingness to let ROE stand (as a Privacy ruling farce, that lower courts than warped into a FALSE RIGHT TO ABORTION). Roe must be relitigated on CONSTITUTIONAL GROUNDS (14th Amendment especially).

This relates to the #MSC potential nominee Warren.... I do not recall who it was over on the #StandUpMichigan Slack server (not going to pile through all those older posts to find who) that informed me that BALLOTPEDIA.org had misleading information about Michigan Primaries (and it was confusing people new to #Michigan political further involvement)...
They added "some language" but I fear it is still not enough... Below is email response I sent them after they said they added "some" new language to their system for #MI #Elections (but, our State is NOT the only one's like this and I hope they will do more)...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you I just checked the #MSC https://ballotpedia.org/Michigan_Supreme_Court_elections,_2022
and saw added " nomination at party #convention "
that is reasonable/short clarification needed.
However, it would be nice if that had a footnote to a #balotpedia sub-page dedicated to further clarifying that (and which) states make that distinction and SPECIFICALLY THAT ONE HAS TO BE A #DELEGATE to go to Party Convention format to be able to participate in such at #Convention only #Primary (not the open, general, Fall Primary at local #Precincts).
I did not look closer, too... Is there official mention of "#DELEGATE #candidates" on 2022 ballot. One has to file a #PRECINCT #DELEGATE #AFFIDAVIT (#PDA, filed to persons #County by May 4) in order to appear on August Primary ballot to become a new or be re-elected as a Delegate (re-up, every two years, even calendar years)!
I have NOT checked specifics on #MIAG, #MISOS, #MILG, State Board of Ed, Board of #Regents, others; but TRUST that the same specific/distinction/clarification/FACTS was added to each of those sub-pages.
I was, however, hoping language specifically identifying those races as PARTISAN NOMINATIONS, BY DELEGATES, ONLY AT PARTY STATE CONVENTION clarification be in the general (https://ballotpedia.org/Michigan_elections,_2022) page as has happened for decades and will continue to happen every even numbered year for some of those and every 4 (still only on/in even number cycle) years.
As, again, I have had people MISREAD the pages and think they are going to get to choose those Party nominees at General Primary in August - MISLEAD to believe that.
Thank you for your assistance.
WE are trying to educate people via our https://www.12cdrc.org/micd12gop-take-action-as-a-delegate page, but of course we can only get so many to visit that page to LEARN THE DISTINCTIONS!

Joe, thanks for your question. hope to be on the Supreme Court when any such challenge is made, and it would inappropriate for me to prejudge such a case - it could cause me to me disqualified. You have my firm commitment that I will follow the Constitution where it leads me, and I will be fearless.
We are getting Judge @Michael Warren some buzz already on Social Media...
Please share THIS, and other, MICD12GOP FORUM LINKS via Social Media. Make your own NEW TOPIC POSTS (see: https://www.12cdrc.org/forum) and share those too. (J Lenard, #MICD12GOP Webmaster)
@Michael Warren I know that MSC Candidates, or any Court nominee really, needs to in some degree BE VAGUE and NOT give opinions based upon Cases that may appear before them... However, to what you can, I'd like your reaction to the following comment I made in the #ReDistricting discussion... [below comment copied from: https://www.12cdrc.org/forum/redistricting-discussion/first-look-at-new-s-e-michigan-district-maps/p-2 thread by/from me: @Joseph Lenard] And the first lawsuit has been filed vs MICRC, and is both a bit of a surprise been when examined why is not all that much of a surprise. #DUMBocrats (#FASCICRATS, in usual #IdentiyPolitics pandering fashion) filed suit on grounds that MAJORITY MINORITY DISTRICTS must be maintained - there can be MORE made, not less (ever)! In one sense, I welcome the suit. However, I do not have much hope for the Courts to DO THE RIGHT THING! The Right thing would be to use the opportunity to COMPLETELY ELIMINATE MAJORITY MINORITY DISTRICT forever going forward. The point of the Civil Rights Act was to BOLSTER the notion of EQUAL PROTECTIONS and that no-one should/could be discriminated against. A SPECIAL CARVE-OUT, BASED UPON RACE (or anything else) IN AND OF ITSELF IS NOT ONLY RACIST BUT A DIRECT VIOLATION OF U. S. CONSTITUTION "EQUAL PROTECTIONS" sections. PERIOD! Not debatable. However, again, I do NOT expect a Judge (who is just a Lawyer in a Robe, who also loves LEGAL GAMES and often BAD PRECEDENCE over THE CONSTITUTION) to have THE GUMPTION to make a CONSTITUTION BASED/SOLID RULING! Not even one that PRETENDS to be RULE-OF-LAW and CONSTITUTIONALIST. Though, I hope/PRAY that I will be wrong and someone will have the COURAGE TO ADHERE TO THE CONSTITUTION for a bleeping change! #MICRC #Race #Racism #Racist #USConstitution #discrimination #EqualProtections #Law #Justice #MSC
Agree, #Zahra is sound. We absolutely must remove liberal activist Justice #Bernstein. Aside from #RobertYoungJr coming back, you would be my second choice! LOL (sorry, couldn't resist the dig at you my friend, all just good-natured fun (#AMomentOfLevity)) I plan to be one of your first Donors as soon as your website is online in February!! I can't do much, still being on Disability income, but I will donate something!! :) #Viviano has to go when he is up also, he was the idiot that gave #Whitler the "insider info" that he knew he'd have enough #Votes on the #MSC court (SIDING WITH THE LIBERAL ACTIVISTS) to allow her to do more #UNCONSTITUTIONAL ACTION as long as it was under the 'guise of the Health Dept. doing it. With "#friends" like that, we don't needs any #enemy. #USConstitution #EqualProtections #Law #Justice #MSC
