[IMPORTANT NOTE: As I am updating the site to reflect current MICD12 first elected (under the 2010 redistricting) first had its new Representative under the new boundaries in 2013 AND (unless lawsuits may delay) are scheduled to run for the NEW DISTRICTS' BOUNDARIES in Michigan in 2022, they do not officially take effect and those Rep's take Office until Jan 2023!!!]

First look at what SEMi area Districts will look like (from: https://michigan.mydistricting.com/legdistricting/comments/plan/128/23). ALL DISTRICT NUMBERS WILL BE COMPLETELY REWRITTEN as they use (ridiculously) DETROIT as their starting point for everything (why NOT LANSING? after all, it's the Capitol of Michigan) which tells you a lot about the MICRC (Michigan Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission) thought process and focus on Minority Majority Districts as their PRINCIPLE "COMMUNITY OF INTEREST" concerns despite such being UNCONSTITUTIONAL violation of EQUAL PROTECTIONS clause. [JLenard - Webmaster]

Some key City shuffles will be...
Dearborn and Taylor, moving out of bulk of current W12 into new MICD02 (with Livonia and Westland areas).
Wyandotte (where I am) down to Flat Rock and Westward into and past Ann Arbor/Ypsi/Saline out to Chelsea area are slated (again, IF MICRC proposed Maps hold) as part of new MICD07.
Allen Park and Lincoln Park are breaking off from 12th and joining DETROIT and up/over to the Grosse-X area/cities (and ERClub) for new MICD01. Brighton Westward to Eaton Rapids area (inc. Howell and Picney of note) part of new MICD05.
Monroe County (down to Ohio Border) will join areas Westward out to Adrian, Clinton, Tecumseh, and more, of note!
MAP WITH ENHANCEMENTS...

[IMPORTANT WED OCT 13 UPDATE...
There are actually FIVE separate proposed USHouse Maps, FOUR are very similar to the Map above (minor variances), the FIFTH (most difference) listed below. The FINAL MAP will likely be one of these TWO with potentially SLIGHT VARIATION(s).] (As you can see below, the DRASTIC DIFFERENCE in the Map below moves Southgate and Wyandotte from proposed 7 (Map above) and Taylor and Romulus from proposed 2 (Map above) into NEW DISTRICT 1 (with Detroit) - again the other FOUR proposed Maps have only minor differences to the MAP ABOVE))

Subject: Michigan Poll Worker Recruitment Day!
Good morning! We are now a few months into our effort of recruiting 5,000 Republican election inspectors (poll workers) and have seen tremendous success so far! Election integrity is as important as ever, and November is quickly approaching. But, WE NEED YOUR HELP! If you haven’t done so already, join our efforts and sign up to be an election inspector here! Today, March 15, has been declared Michigan Poll Worker Recruitment Day. Let's show the Democrats that we are united and ready to stand together to secure our elections. After signing up, send the website to all of your friends and family, post it all over social media and help us reach our goal of 5,000 election inspectors before May! Best, Matthew Seifried Our mailing address is: 520 Seymour Ave Lansing, MI 48933 Paid for by the Michigan Republican Party, with regulated funds. So, I get BAD NEWS, and some GOOD NEWS... If the maps hold, I will be part of the NEW MICD13GOP. The Good News? I won't have to deal with either idiot: DINGELL OR TLAIB!! Should I be happy or pissed??? LOL #MixedEmotions
According to Randy Bishop (his YOUR FOUNDING FATHERS show on WAAM (Sun 2/27)). Marlinga (D) being age-limited off the Judicial Bench wants to run for the new District 10. He would have been running, if the Law will allow (he is challenging MI Law that would block him from doing so just coming off the bench), running against Lisa McClain, but (according to Randy) Lisa is moving into the new MICD11GOP ReDistricted District to run. So, he would likely face-off against JOHN JAMES (who has thrown his hat into the ring for MICD12GOP Primary (but several others may too, though it is believed John James' USSenate runs will give him the name recognition and volunteer base to Win that Primary)!
Just another confirmation that the Independents are really Dems on this Commission. Plus two Republicans are suspect. Convenient to not show up.
Raise your hand if YOU got a 7% raise this year... No? I was so disappointed after reading Meghan Reckling's post today (see below) If you would like to let the Commission know how you feel about their greedy decision to raise their pay, a written comment can be left at https://www.michigan-mapping.org/#submit "The Constitution sets the salary floor for Redistricting Commissioners at 25% of the Governor’s salary totaling $39,825. One of the first things this Commission did was raise their salary to $55,000. Today, while the Commission faces a $1.2 million budget deficit, what did they do? They voted to give themselves a 7% pay raise. Let’s point out — The Commission’s principal work of drawing the maps is done! They adopted the new maps at the end of December. However, per the Constitution, the Commissioner will now get paid until all legal suits on the maps are settled, which could take years. That’s right. The 13 members of the MICRC will collect a salary of $58,850 each to meet occasionally and then respond to legal notices, as needed, for years to come." How did each of the Commissioners vote?
Commissioner Szetela (I) - Yes
Commissioner Vallette (I) - Yes
Commissioner Witjes (D) - Yes

Commissioner Kellom (D) - Yes

Good News, Bad News... The GOOD NEWS: We may finally be rid of the last Levin. Andy Levin has a challenger. The BAD NEWS: We are still likely then stuck with idiot SLOTKIN who is sparring with him for control of the ReDistricted 11th. source: OANN We will need a strong CONSERVATIVE Republican to have any shot at knocking off Haley.
MIGOP will be releasing the updated apportionment and updated delegate lists to County Party Chairs
immediately following our February 11thState Committee meeting, once it has been approved by the
MIGOP Credentials Committee.
To reiterate, these appointments are for convention purposes only.District Chairs, District Committees
and State Committee members will continue to serve in their roles until new leadership is elected at the
February 2023 convention.
The creation of thenew districtsoffer us a unique challenge of fulfilling responsibilities in expiring
districts, while working towards the future.
I am encouraging all the currently elected state and district committee members to carry out their
responsibilities, but understand that with new congressional districts, many members will want to assist
candidates in their new districts. I absolutely encourage that and believe it is important.
I appreciate all your hard work and our team at MRP is available if you have anyquestions.
Sincerely,

[FROM MEWE....] Alan wrote.... I have not read any of this maze of info on redistricting, all I heard was Tlaib the terrorist is gonna get more or another district.? What is going on in our house and Senate are they all Democrats in Republicans clothes? How can any American stand up for this horrible horrible woman!?????? I responded... Well, I'd suggest taking some time to STUDY what is there and be informed. Dingel likely to run in the new 6th and Tlaib in the new 12th. I am, if the maps hold past the lawsuits phase, and likely will, am screwed and part of the Detroit (new 13th) District. The only good thing? It won't be Dingbat or RashidaTaliban to run against. A few FASCICRATS have already announced for the new 13th, but we have yet to find a GOP candidate though some rumors say JOHN JAMES may again run for Office (AND LOSE AGAIN)! But seriously, rather than run for Governor James Craig (there is nowhere near enough Primary support for him across the entire state, and his backing from Lansing only pisses off the base more and shrinks his potential Nov support should he win the Primary) should run for that USHouse seat and might have a chance to supplant TalibanTlaib (though, maybe James could make it close but his LACK OF CARING ABOUT WAYNE COUNTY during his USSenate runs, means many GOP will not bother to turn out for him if he now wants to claim to care about the area - the only hope with a James run would be peoples' DISDAIN for TLAIB, even among some DUMBocrats, and vote AGAINST HER rather than "for" James) IF James were to challenge her but again the liklihood would be that JAMES might have an actual chance if he runs for the OPEN NEW 13TH SEAT (Detroit, north, and south, District)!
IMPORTANT NOTE: As I am updating the site to reflect current MICD12 first elected (under the 2010 redistricting) first had its new Representative under the new boundaries in 2013 AND (unless lawsuits may delay) are scheduled to run for the NEW DISTRICTS' BOUNDARIES in Michigan in 2022, they do not officially take effect and those Rep's take Office until Jan 2023!!!

The Michigan Redistricting Commission was heavily Democrat weighted. It was NOT nonpartisan.
We told you PEOPLE NOT POLITICIANS (aka: Prop-2) was a farce... We told you that it was NOT JUST MICHIGAN, that Soro's was pouring money, on behalf of Democrats, IN STATES THAT THE LEGISLATURES CONTROLLED BY REPUBLICANS (and only those States, you didn't and won't see this GO-AROUND in any BLUE STATE) was for a reason - and that reason was to STEAL the redistricting process from LEGISLATORS (as outlined in LAW or CONSTITUTION of most States) and put it in the hands of BOARDS/COMMITTEES they could, lie, cheat, steal, control over, in order to GERRYMANDER ADDITIONAL BLUE DISTRICTS! Now, they finally admit it... [see related: https://beforeitsnews.com/the-law/2018/11/michigan-2018-prop2-ballot-initiative-will-not-end-gerrymandering-2457992.html]

Subject: “There has been a redistricting turnaround”
The media is starting to catch on to the fact that our efforts to stop Republican's are having an impact. It’s about time! For years now, the NDRC has been working hard to prepare the public and policymakers for redistricting [Editor note: I added the emphasis (and let me correct their "prepare" term to what it really was/is "propganda, manipulation, lies" in order to CONTROL (which is what they seek in everything. POWER to ensure they always have favor/advantage by expanding liberal DEEP STATE into any and all things], help win elections, and put the pieces in place to secure fair ["fair" (see: https://www.12cdrc.org/forum/general-other-discussions/define-fair-back-to-clinton-speak-depends-on-what-the-definition-of-is-is elsewhere on this site) by which they mean GERRYMANDERING IN FAVOR OF DEMOCRATS] maps. So while we’re not “surprised” that our strategy [read: thievery] is working, we are incredibly grateful to this community for giving us the resources to make it happen. Will you make a donation to help us keep up the fight? Here’s a recap of some of the latest victories in the fight for fair maps:
States like Michigan [GOP Legislature had their Constitutional Rights to create the maps stolen], New Jersey, and California [lol, they tossed in 2 100% DEMOCRAT CONTROLLED STATES as a dodge, meanwhile they flood the other red/purple States they used the same PROP-2 FARCE like they did Michigan with the same email with "THAT-OTHER-STATE-NAME" in place of where "Michigan" is that they are gerrymandering to Democrat favor as their only hope to stave off the RED WAVE coming in 2022 and 2024 (as well, of course, with stepped-up VoterFraud efforts (http://tinyurl.com/FascricratsVoterFraud))] have adopted fair maps.
In many states where Republicans have [LEGAL AUTHORITY TO DRAW DISTRICTS] gerrymandered, voters have filed lawsuits. [NOTICE, how they conveniently FILED LAWSUITS IN MICHIGAN against their own Commission to try and uphold UNCONSTITUTIONAL "majority minority Districts" gerrymandering (direct violation of "equal protections" and demand still MORE BLUE SEATS be gerrymandered in MI]
And the U.S. Department of Justice sued Texas over its gerrymandered maps. [Suing TX that actually UPHELD CONSTITUTIONAL districting, but TX is gaining an additional District, and they want to CHEAT their way into that being another BLUE SEAT despite TX being an overwhelmingly RED STATE]
But, we’re still fighting for fair maps in important states like Pennsylvania, Florida, Kentucky, [the only HONEST statement they've made in this email, each of those States (again) HAVE GOP CONTROLLED STATE LEGISLATURES and they demand BLUE GERRYMANDERING despite they cannot win those State Legislatures to have the proper authority over districting] and more. Nearly 170 congressional district maps have yet to be enacted! So please don’t let up on your support -- we need to see this process through to the end. Will you pitch in now? If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: Donate $10Donate $20Donate $50Donate $100Donate $150Another amountThanks, Team NDRC [And, of course, what things always come down to, USE THEIR LIES TO RAISE MORE MONEY TO STEAL OTHER ELECTIONS WITH]
Since 2017, the NDRC has executed a comprehensive redistricting strategy that shifts the redistricting power, creating fair districts where Democrats can compete. Our victories have been made possible by our strong community of grassroots supporters.MAKE A DONATIONIf you want to receive periodic updates from the NDRC on our fight for fair maps, text MAPS to 36787. Text HELP for help, STOP to end. Msg & Data rates may apply. We know we send a lot of emails, but we think it's important to keep you updated with the latest information on Republican [rather than meeting the demands for Democrat favored cheating] gerrymandering and voter suppression [they still keep these LIES going despite 70% of ALL AMERICANS supporting VOTER ID so ALL LEGAL PEOPLE CAN/DO VOTE but people CANNOT CHEAT (see: https://www.12cdrc.org/forum/legislation/hr1-unconstitutionally-federalizing-all-elections)] and how we're fighting [read: cheating, cuz we cannot win obeying the laws] back -- regardless of whether you choose to donate. Click here to make a donation. Every dollar you give will go toward our fight to end gerrymandering and voter suppression. Paid for by the National Democratic Redistricting Committee. National Democratic Redistricting Committee 700 13th Street NW, Suite 600 Washington, DC 20005 United States
Many, warned way back during PROP 2 that it would not end gerrymandering. All it was about was getting more favorable DEMOCRAT MAPS, which is why Soros helped fund these proposal farces IN ONLY STATES WHERE LEGISLATURE IS CONTROLLED BY GOP (in States that Dems control Legislature, they will be gerrymandering the maps to favor themselves without the need for Soros funded farces)! more: https://beforeitsnews.com/the-law/2018/11/michigan-2018-prop2-ballot-initiative-will-not-end-gerrymandering-2457992.html
and, these JOKES they call maps, demonstrate we were/are correct. And, again, same in other States to AID/BENEFIT DEMOCRATS. Any State controlled by Dems or has a farce Commission like this, and is losing a seat due to Census, is having REPUBLICAN SEAT GERRYMANDERED OUT (even in NY and CA where there are few to gerrymander out)! However, there is likely to be such a RED WAVE in 2022 most won't notice it without really looking hard at the redistrictings processes.
And the first lawsuit has been filed vs MICRC, and is both a bit of a surprise been when examined why is not all that much of a surprise. #DUMBocrats (#FASCICRATS, in usual #IdentiyPolitics pandering fashion) filed suit on grounds that MAJORITY MINORITY DISTRICTS must be maintained - there can be MORE made, not less (ever)! In one sense, I welcome the suit. However, I do not have much hope for the Courts to DO THE RIGHT THING! The Right thing would be to use the opportunity to COMPLETELY ELIMINATE MAJORITY MINORITY DISTRICT forever going forward. The point of the Civil Rights Act was to BOLSTER the notion of EQUAL PROTECTIONS and that no-one should/could be discriminated against. A SPECIAL CARVE-OUT, BASED UPON RACE (or anything else) IN AND OF ITSELF IS NOT ONLY RACIST BUT A DIRECT VIOLATION OF U. S. CONSTITUTION "EQUAL PROTECTIONS" sections. PERIOD! Not debatable. However, again, I do NOT expect a Judge (who is just a Lawyer in a Robe, who also loves LEGAL GAMES and often BAD PRECEDENCE over THE CONSTITUTION) to have THE GUMPTION to make a CONSTITUTION BASED/SOLID RULING! Not even one that PRETENDS to be RULE-OF-LAW and CONSTITUTIONALIST. Though, I hope/PRAY that I will be wrong and someone will have the COURAGE TO ADHERE TO THE CONSTITUTION for a bleeping change! #MICRC #Race #Racism #Racist #USConstitution #discrimination #EqualProtections #Law #Justice #MSC
Here are additional views of currently VOTED BY MICRC (BEFORE LAWSUITS) MAPS for our immediate area...

State House of Representatives Maps: Click here to see (interactive, zoom-in/out) the new Hickory map. I/we are still looking for a Source that breaks-down the District by City (text format listing, like we provide for the current MICD12 at: https://www.12cdrc.org/about-us) rather than Map line delineations. If you come across such a Source, please be sure to add a link to it.
It looks like my initial instincts and speculation was correct, if the following article (sent to me by John Dunlap) is correct. Dingell will be looking to Run to stay in Congress by Running in the District that will comprise MAJORITY of her current/existing District; and the Voters that know her. She is assured that Ann Arbor and UoM will hand her EASY VICTORY. We, of course, have to insure we get a Candidate to step up that can and will give her a Run for her money. NOW would be the time. Right after ReDistricting and things are a bit in flux and uncertain, will be the BEST CHANCE to knock her off this Decade! https://www.mlive.com/news/ann-arbor/2021/12/dingell-moving-to-ann-arbor-to-run-in-newly-drawn-congressional-district.html
I have to make a comment about that 1st comment on the MI-House map that was voted in, but likely (as with all the Maps they chose) to be challenged in the Courts. Clearly the Ann Arbor Liberal is a Political novice. Whining about AA being divided up is just DUMB on his part, but please - I hope some AA folks challenge it in Courts. He/she/whomever, clearly doesn't grasp that was done to PURPLE-IZE some other surrounding (extending to more rural/conservative Suburbs from the SOLID BLUE AA) Districts to AID THE FASCICRATS take some MI-House seats. And the Congressional District Map was clearly about attempting to ensure a GOP DISTRICT was gerrymandered OUT! As, again, if you didn't read the referenced pieces in the original post about ReDistricting, the current 14 Districts are equally/evenly split 7-7 (after Slotkins and Stevens as part of the 2018 PINKWAVE in Michigan took GOP seats, and we failed to reclaim them in 2020 and must get better Candidates to take them on in the new ReDistricted Districts (but the Map likely drawn to AID THEM hold their place in Congress))!

Subject: URGENT: Redistricting Commission Releases Final Proposed Maps
Ronald -- The Michigan Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission (MICRC) has released its final proposed draft maps for public consideration. As the State Constitution requires a 45-day public engagement period for the proposed maps, the public is given the opportunity to provide comments on each of the plans. The Commission is scheduled to reconvene on Thursday, December 30th to take a final vote on which plans to adopt. As a reminder, the Commission is tasked with drawing the maps of Michigan's Congressional Districts, State Senate, State House of Representatives. The Commission is currently seeking comment on the following proposed maps: Congressional Chestnut Birch Apple Lange Szetela State Senate Cherry Palm Linden State House of Representatives Pine Magnolia Hickory Of the five Congressional District maps, the Michigan Republican Party is supporting the Birch plan and it is the best map for Kent County. It keeps Kent County whole within one Congressional District, without splitting it up and including different metropolitan areas of the state like the Chestnut Plan does with Muskegon and the Apple Plan does with Kalamazoo. The Lange plan is also a good plan because it keeps Kent County whole within one congressional district and includes neighboring municipalities of counties that identify with the Grand Rapids metropolitan area. It is also the only plan presented thus far that keeps both Kent and Ottawa counties whole within their own congressional district. The three State Senate and three State House plans each have the same map configuration for Kent County. The Michigan Republican Party is supporting the Palm State Senate Plan and Mangolia State House Plan. These plans can use some tweaks for Kent County, CLICK HERE to view suggestions on how the Commission can draw these better. This is our LAST opportunity to use our voice to make an impact on which of the three plans for each the Commission adopts. Please consider doing the following TODAY to help us in our mission to get the Commission to adopt fair maps: 1. COMMENT ON PROPOSED MAPS: Comment on the Birch Congressional District Plan and Lange Congressional District Plan stating your support. Comment on the Chestnut Congressional District Plan and Apple Congressional District Plan stating your opposition. To find talking points you can use in your comments, CLICK HERE. Also, comment on the Palm State Senate Plan and Magnolia State House Plan stating your support and changes you would like the Commission to incorporate for your respective districts. To find talking points you can use in your comments, CLICK HERE. 2. PROVIDE WRITTEN TESTIMONY: CLICK HERE to submit a written comment in the public comment portal, for your area. State your support of the Birch and/or Lange Congressional District Plans and why you favor them. Discuss your home's respective State Senate and House of Representative district maps and how the Commission can further strengthen these. The plans the Commission votes to adopt on December 30 are the FINAL maps for the next 10 years. This is the single most important thing we can all do to prepare for the 2022 election cycle. Please contact me with any questions. Sincerely, Mike Sullivan Political Director, Kent GOP

Subject: Michigan redistricting committee won't release legal memos
Michigan redistricting committee won't release legal memos By Scott McClallen | The Center Square (The Center Square) – On a 7-5 vote, the Michigan Independent Citizen’s Redistricting Commission (MICRC) chose to preserve attorney-client privilege and continue hiding memos discussed in a controversial October closed-door session. It’s still unclear what commissioners discussed. More than a month later, Michiganders still don’t have answers from a commission that touts transparency and the Constitution mandates “shall conduct all of its business at open meetings.” The MICRC has rejected a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests from conservative group Michigan Rising Action (MRA), despite a nonbinding opinion from Attorney General Dana Nessel that it “must” release the memos. MICRC spokesman Edward Woods III told The Center Square in an email that the MICRC followed its legal team’s advice. “In an open and transparent manner, the Commission will continue to fulfill its mission of drawing fair maps through public engagement for Michigan’s Congressional, State Senate, and State House districts,” Woods said in a statement. Committee attorneys said if the MICRC waives attorney-client privilege, they might not be able to reinstate it. "It would be an extraordinary thing to do," Commission Counsel David Fink said, the Detroit New reported. "It would be effectively taking away your ability [sic] get good counsel." On Thursday, the Senate unanimously approved Senate Bill 728 to ban the MICRC from meeting in a closed session for any purpose. Sen. Ed McBroom, R-Vulcan, said the MICRC was taking "enormous liberties" with the Constitution whether it can meet in closed session. "The Constitution doesn’t say they operate under the Open Meetings Act," McBroom said in a phone interview. "It says they shall have open meetings. So I’m just striving to make it abundantly clear that the Open Meetings Act is not their source of authority for having these closed sessions or from withholding documents from people.” FAIR Maps Executive Director Tony Daunt demanded the commission release the hidden memos. “The Redistricting Commission is hiding evidence from the public, because it would reveal the lengths they’ve gone to disenfranchise minority voters,” Daunt said in a statement. “The Commission illegally held a closed-door session, in direct violation of the state’s constitution, to discuss their efforts to disenfranchise African-American and other minority communities and to violate the Voting Rights Act. MIGOP Communications Director Gustavo Portela also criticized the redistricting committee. “The Michigan redistricting commission reached a new low today openly violating the Michigan Constitution,” Portela said in a statement. “The legislature and the Attorney General have called on the commission to be transparent and they have refused. This commission has not only tainted the process by which voters will be represented for the next decade, they have lost the public’s trust.” In a floor speech, Senate Minority Leader Jim Ananich, D-Flint, said he was voting for the bill but still believes the MICRC is an improvement to the previous map-drawing process. “The Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission on its worst day is still a million times better for the people of Michigan than the best day of the old system, where Republicans drew the map in secret,” Ananich said. “Zero public hearings. Zero public input." Scott McClallen Staff Reporter The Center Square #MICRC #ReDistricting #Law #Violations #OpensMeetingsAct #Transperency
Wow.... SERIOUSLY, even #DanaNessel finally cares about the #Constitution and #RuleOfLaw???? But, of course, SHE WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT... (The Center Square) – The Michigan Independent Citizen’s Redistricting Committee (MICRC) likely violated the Constitution when it held a closed-door meeting in October, according to an opinion issued Monday by Attorney General Dana Nessel. Assuming that the closed-door session included discussion of a legal memo, the meeting likely violated the Constitution and should have been held in an open meeting, Nessel wrote in a 14-page opinion. Last month, Sens. Ed McBroom, R-Vulcan, and Jeff Irwin, D-Ann Arbor, asked Nessel whether a closed-door MICRC session was legal. In 2018, Michigan voters created an independent, transparent redistricting commission so in-power politicians wouldn’t draw lines to stay in power, a process commonly called gerrymandering. All sides criticized the MICRC after entering a closed-door meeting in October, despite its Constitutional amendment that mandates the “commission shall conduct all of its business at open meetings.” Nessel said such an important process should be conducted transparently, and added “it would be repugnant to the constitutional openness requirements of article 4 § 6 to have such a discussion in closed session, even though the discussion is with the Commission’s counsel.” “The Commission is tasked with developing and adopting new districts that will no doubt change the makeup of our elected legislators,” Nessel said in a statement. “It remains imperative that such a monumental responsibility be conducted in a public forum. The citizens of this state are owed a transparent process and the Commission must do its best to meet that expectation.” While Nessel said the October meeting should have been an open meeting, her opinion was unclear on future closed-door MICRC sessions. “This is not to say that the Commission could never meet in closed session,” Nessel wrote. “It is beyond the scope of this opinion to determine what discussions might fall outside the ‘business’ of the Commission and therefore outside the public’s gaze. But one could imagine, for example, a discussion between the Commission and its counsel concerning litigation, or some other matter, that has nothing to do with the actual development, drafting, or adoption of the redistricting plans and could therefore be held in a closed session.” MICRC spokesman Edward Woods III told The Center Square in an email: “The Michigan Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission respects the AG’s Opinion. At our next meeting scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 2, we will discuss it openly and transparently.” Nessel didn’t prescribe a remedy for the violation, or for possible future violations. FAIR Maps Executive Director Tony Daunt demanded the state’s redistricting commission immediately publish all legal memos, minutes, and all available footage stemming from the closed-door meeting. “Numerous Michiganders across the partisan and ideological spectrum condemned the secret October meeting as a violation of the spirit and letter of the 2018 amendment establishing this commission,” Daunt said in a statement. “With the Attorney General’s opinion now public, commissioners should immediately release all memos, written notes, minutes, and every frame of footage or other recording made during their illegal secret meeting."

MORE SHENANIGANS.... DIRECT VIOLATION OF THE MICRC CHARTER.... [from our Friends in the MICD14GOP] ----- Forwarded Message -----

Subject: Redistricting Mess - Yet Another Action Call
Dear friends of the 14th District; Today was an embarrassing mess for Michigan's Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission (MICRC) and for Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson. After the MICRC hearing was delayed by two hours, the Commission then covered the door windows into the meeting room (remember TCF in 2020?), voted to reduce public comments down to 30-seconds per person, and voted to conduct a closed session to discuss the federal Voting Rights Act. This was a new low for the Commission. Why? The closed-door session violates the oath the Commissioners took AND the Michigan Constitution: "(10) Each commissioner shall perform his or her duties in a manner that is impartial and reinforces public confidence in the integrity of the redistricting process. The commission shall conduct all of its business at open meetings. Nine commissioners, including at least one commissioner from each selection pool shall constitute a quorum, and all meetings shall require a quorum. The commission shall provide advance public notice of its meetings and hearings. The commission shall conduct its hearings in a manner that invites wide public participation throughout the state. The commission shall use technology to provide contemporaneous public observation and meaningful public participation in the redistricting process during all meetings and hearings." Only MICRC Republican members Rhonda Lange and Erin Wagner voted against the Commission entering into a closed session. When the Constitutional Amendment (Proposal 2) was passed in 2018 to establish the MICRC, citizens were promised transparency and open dialogue on the map-drawing process. Today's Commission vote to hold a closed-door session to discuss one of the most critical challenges facing the Commission -- complying with the federal Voting Rights Act -- is just another example of how the process is not working for citizens. How can you make a difference? Please take 5 minutes, or less, to submit a comment (if you have commented before please do another) in the Commission's portal to:
Condemn the Commission for their cowardly move;
Condemn the Commission for violating their requirement to only meet in open session;
Thank Commissioners Lange and Wagner for standing up for transparency; and
Demand that the Commission immediately release all matters and materials discussed during the closed session.
Comments may be made online at www.michigan-mapping.org. After you voice your concerns to the Commission, please share this email with your family and friends all across Michigan, asking them to also express their thoughts. This long and tiring process needs to come to a fair conclusion. Today was not a good day to believe that can happen. Thanks for participating to get this back on track! Sincerely Bill Rauwerdink 14th District Chair
A VERY IMPORTANT UPDATE, AND CURIOUS DEVELOPMENT... Someone reached out to me on GAB knowing I've been sharing updates on GAB about the MICRC process....
MY RESPONSE: @KMSasser Thank you for tagging me on this. This is VERY SUSPICIOUS. They are to have PUBLICLY ANNOUNCED OPEN HEARINGS, they have NO BUSINESS WHAT-SO-EVER to be sending PRIVATE CORRESPONDENCE to "certain people" however one would define "certain people" to be (whether it be Democrats, "supposed" Independents. or identified Republicans! PERIOD! HAS ANYONE ELSE SEEN ANY SUCH MAILINGS?!?!? WHY DID THIS POSTAL MAILING ORIGINATE FROM CINCINNATI OHIO? Who is the holder of the BULK MAIL PERMIT in Cincinnati Ohio? I do... it is in one of the REPLIES at: https://www.12cdrc.org/forum/redistricting-discussion/first-look-at-new-s-e-michigan-district-maps... about how are we gonna fit 7 current GOP Congresscritters into the new likely RED (or competitive) NEW DISTRICTS!!! This solves that, if people out that part of the State pay attention AND STEP UP!!! It seems the only person NOT getting fully hosed is #WALBERG. And, an aside, our WAYNE12CDRC voted to CENSURE BOTH THOSE FOOLS. The Wayne-12 at the April regular scheduled, and in-person, general meeting adopted additional Resolutions. All standing in solidarity with other Districts that passed similar Resolutions demanding that the MIGOP take actions. This new/additional ELECTION INTEGRITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY Resolution puts us in solidarity with Antrim County, ground zero in Michigan for the Dominion Voting Systems concerns, Resolves that irregularities MUST BE ADDRESSED, changes to Michigan Law where required, and Prosecution of those who broke existing/current Michigan Election Laws. Further, in two other/additional Resolutions, we called upon the State Party to make clear that while we all may have differences of opinion and policy on some issues, what can never be a/in question is that the GOP is the Party of THE CONSTITUTION, DUE PROCESS, and RULE OF LAW, and that Elected GOP Representatives that partake in actions outside the bounds of the Constitution will be held to account. As I said above, down-thread (sub-replies) to @wgordon1776 ... The big question to use an analogy... How will we be fitting 7 (pounds, for this analogy) of currently Elected #Michigan #USHouse #Republicans in a 6 pound bag??? Or to repeat the analogy in my responses to Bill, WITH MUSICAL CHAIRS, and #ReDistricting down from 14 seats to 13 certainly is (see what I did there? thank you both, @wgordon1776 and @Joseph Lenard, for all the great information. I think whomever is in charge of the 12th district needs to create a "Nostradamus" award to give to which one of you gets the prediction right. 😊 And you both deserve an ORWELL (In the time of universal deceit, everyone hates the truth tellers) AWARD! I just hope Joe (WV) and Krystin (AZ) hold their ground in the senate until we have chance to take back Congress, both chambers, in 2022 and can permanently block biden and guarantee he remains a lame duck president until he is replaced in 2024!!!!! and also it is my sincere hopes that real moderates, with as few of them that are left as that party has gone so far left and I agree whole heartedly as you call them fascists is 100% correct and they employ projection trying to call everyone else nazi's, but that those very few moderates actually remaining in that party will step up and revolt and challenge idiots like "dingbat" as you called her, as her husband that she replaced in congress (john) was not as far left, at least was pretty solid and an nra member on 2a (despite that he did cave, I understand, and helped pass clinton's pathetic and that failed its purpose supposed "assualt weapons ban" back when), is primary challenged no matter the district she chooses to run for or in (whichever is proper terminology). And that obviously goes double for rashida, which I will say she might be able to be beat in a primary if she does run in the detroit district over chances that it would be unlikely she could be beat in a primary as if you guys contend she might run in the 2nd and the terrorist sympathizers and antisemites base she has there?
Here's one I hadn't noticed yet. Debbie Dingell 'lives' in Dearborn. Which new district will she represent? Will she be up against Talib? Or West Detroit? Or will she try to represent the new 7th even though she doesn't live in the district? (We all know she doesn't live in the district now. She lives in Washington DC. )

To put a bow on what George said about they clearly just ignored the whole communities of interest thing. It would have made sense to start with the upper peninsula as District 1, as I understand from looking at the existing maps would have at least been one area in Michigan that then could have retained its district number, and that they would have to merge with areas of the lower peninsula in order to spread-out and encompass more people to meet the number of people required to be a district of equal size with all the others as required by apportionment. Yes, I'm learning quickly, or at least trying to learn quickly there is an awful lot to absorb, as I've had to learn quickly after the fiasco of the 2020 election there is too much at stake to not learn and become involved, and I thank you all here for the blog about the census, apportionment, redistricting, etc, and the folks making posts and comments on this and other subject matter on this website. Anyway, back to this specific topic. That. the u.p. plus area but even then way so far down to the west part of the state and not just straight across and top slice of the l.p. to make it fit, is the only part of the proposed maps that makes near any sense to me. Then go out, from their, the u.p. and newly added area, down, around, over, whatever, from that starting point. Instead, and what was the reasoning and motivation for, insisting on beginning the process at Detroit, beyond perhaps guaranteeing that every person in Michigan would have to learn all new district numbers? I saw someone say somewhere else, not sure if it was even on this website, that if not starting in upper peninsula than it should have started in Lansing. That would make sense, Lansing is the Capital of Michigan, Detroit is not, and again to put a bow on the point of if they wanted to guarantee all new district numbers that also would have accomplished that. Not sure what it says their agenda is, I do not even care to speculate at this point, but it clearly says something about an agenda that I'll leave to others smarter than I to lay out what was likely the case!
OMG: we've heard over and over that we should talk about Communities of Interest as to what we should talk about and focus on at the open hearings and comment periods as that was supposed to be the key focus of this prop-2 created Commission farce. The notion and concept of Downriver Community is completely obliterated by either map but especially by that map just added to the discussion. They clearly were more interested in some other objective and excuses for their preferred outcomes than the supposed "Communities of Interest" they proclaimed. That was clearly their deflection, while all the while went about what they preferred to implement.

Subject: Michigan Redistricting Hearings - Training Schedules
Hi All, The Michigan Redistricting Commission is finally set to hold their mapping hearings, beginning on October 20th. I am including a fresh google form for our trainings with the updated hearing dates. Please fill out the form as soon as possible. There is a lot of information here, so please read this email in its entirety. This is the last opportunity for us to give feedback on these maps that will guide our legislative bodies for 10 years. Below is a list of hearings with the associated trainings that are currently scheduled. It is advisable to participate in the training associated with your hearing, but it is not necessary. We will be focusing the trainings on the regions where the hearings are scheduled to help give specific guidance on the maps for those areas. As a reminder, you must still register for your specific hearing prior to attending and you can do it through the following link. MICRC - Meeting Notices & Materials (michigan.gov). The google form is for the training, the Michigan.gov link is where you will go to register for the actual public hearings (and, like last time, you should be able to register in person). *Important – The commission has not updated their schedule online. Please hold off registering until this has occurred. We will keep you posted! New Internal Google form – This is how you will be able to sign up for a training. We all know, the LEFT cannot Win without cheating... They cheat in many ways beyond just the clear outright Voter Fraud we've seen, but you'll notice these SOROS FUNDED "Commission" initiatives ONLY HAPPENED IN STATE WERE THE LEGISLATURE IS CONTROLLED BY GOP, never any BLUE STATE! Tells you all you need to know, not about "FAIR"ness (as mentioned in comment above) but all about MORE DEMOCRAT CHANCES TO CHEAT! semi-related... THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A MORE DRATSTIC DIFFERENCE IN THE TWO PARTIES THAN NOW!!! Time to get the OSTRICHES to get their Heads out of the Sand....
Having SHARED Tom MacDonald's latest ("AMERICA") Video, must mention TOPHER's "DEAR TOM" ( see here: https://youtu.be/EQA2JMDqteI ) has valid points asking Tom for MORE SPECIFICS!!!
I agree to some degree that Tom's GREAT MODERATE HERO schtick is wearing thin!! I have NOT ever now nor ever will claim GOP is perfect, it is far from but unless one is willing to pick a side and become a GOP Delegate, fight on the Field rather than just WHINE/SCREAM from the Bleachers, and help us make it better then they are JUST A USEFUL IDIOT to/for FASCICRATS!! If anyone does not recognize that the FASCICRATS Party is the TEDDY KENNEDY (now driving the Car into the River to drown all of America) than JFK, is a complete moron OSTRICH!
As the group RUSH says: If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice (or rather allow one to be forced upon you)! And the saying, stand in the MIDDLE OF THE ROAD don't be surprised when you get hit by traffic going both ways!
So, yes, Republicans aren't perfect, SHUT UP AND WORK TO MAKE THE GOP BETTER but anyone that entertains allowing a FASCICRATS Candidate get elected anywhere is A MORON! Become a GOP Delegate (I am, and I'm fighting RINOs as hard as FASCICRATS)!
Topher (who both TOM and TOPHER Videos are in the ABOUT - GOP Values In Music section exist) is RIGHT on this one, Tom (others) needs to PICK A SIDE or just admit he/they only in it for the CASH/HANDOUTS!

[UPDATE from S.Foster, MIGOP, via email] Attention everyone!
I truly appreciate all your help so far as the redistricting process is moving into its next phase. The preliminary maps are being drawn and there will be a second round of public hearings to let citizens voice their opinions.
While the first round of hearings were important, the next round is even more critical. We need every single person involved, whether it is submitting a public comment, attending via zoom, or in person. In person commentary is critical, so please make every effort to attend a meeting. All you have to do is look at the proposed maps to understand how vital these upcoming hearings are
The first public forum is happening on Monday, October 11th and will continue through October 28th. I have created a google form for people to officially sign up to participate. Once you sign up, we will send you a link to participate in an upcoming training.
You can participate by attending in person (our preferred course of action as the Commission will be giving speaking preference to those who are in attendance) and/or by written comment. There is a feature in the google form that will allow you to decide which option works best for you. Again, in person commentary is critical. We ask that you follow up your in-person comments by submitting your comments in writing via the portal. You can sign up for one of the following forums by clicking on the link below:
2nd Round of Public Hearings (google.com)
*Please note that this form is only letting us know which hearing you would like to participate in. You still need to register for your desired forum.
You do not have to live in the area to participate. You can attend any meeting and comment on any area. We will be holding informal zoom trainings to discuss these hearings over the coming weeks and will be able to answer any questions you might have. Once you have signed up on the Google form, we will give you more details on the Zoom training (these zoom links we will be sent to you on the day of the trainings). You can also participate in multiple trainings.
I will remind you that these maps will be official for 10 years. I implore you to sign up! Thank you so much, Stuart Foster

First please pardon what are bound to be some misspelling some improper word choice selections absolute lack of punctuation and bad grammar as I am using Google Assistant to dictate this while on my phone... My good friend pastor Richard Deitering (WAAM radio (Sat's 2p) Moment Of Clarity show (https://tinyurl.com/WAAM1600Live) and who happened to be the Wayne-12CDRC Constitution Dinner Keynote speaker this year (video: https://youtu.be/PPxnvtvixUI)) gave me a call upon seeing the district maps and wanted to discuss Tim Walberg and I had to tell him that I would need to look into walberg situation and get back to him so I thought I may as well share my findings with you all here too.... Tim is currently in micd07 the bulk of which is looking to become the new micd08 (which is Carleton down to the Ohio border over to Brooklyn and still down to the Ohio border shoots up Jackson's way and out to Albion but still then down to the Ohio border) a big District so I called Tim's congressional district office to have a discussion with them as the offices in Jackson which will now become part of the new micd08 if the maps hold. I found out that Tim actually lives which I'll have to do more research on exactly where that's at (they said it's 30ish miles SE of Jackson so could potentially fall into new 7th or 8th guesstimating from broad overview map) but at first glance it appears that Tim will have a choice of deciding whether to run in the new 8th District or the newly conformed 7th District as one does not have to legally reside in the actual congressional district they reside - which most people know like Maxine Watters doesn't live in her District famously and my friend Al Lemmo who actually resides within the boundaries of the current 12th ran in the primary for the 13th congressional district to try to run against Rashida Tliab. If I were a betting person I would probably put my money down on Tim running for the new 8th congressional district as it is likely in more easily shoe-in Republican win (and includes his current congressional district offices of/in Jackson) versus the new 7th which without having yet gotten into the voter registrations and the likely voter turnout data looks to be a bit more purple than the old 12th was solid blue but still likely a Democrat win and therefore Debbie Dingell again not having to live in your District (cuz Dearborn will be part of the new 3rd District) she will likely run for the new 8th District which encompasses most of her current existing 12th District area and her name recognition likely to hold that seat blue for sure even though the district the new 8th may be a bit more purplish. I put a call into Tim's campaign office and still awaiting a return call from them but there's probably not going to be any official announcement of his future plans regarding the new 7th or new 8th anytime soon that they will publicly admit to yet. All current representatives are going to examine their options and weigh the pros and cons of any new District run choices hold.

OMG. I can't believe that Michelle quoted Orwell, I happen to be named George after Orwell and I'll share my story, which I already shared in the other WalkAway section below, but first... I am a NEWLY AWAKENED, called one who took the RED PILL is the terminology I've found now that I am finally out of the bubble that I was living in and truly AWAKE not FAKE WOKE any longer. I just happened into this subject being a rabbit-hole I hadn't began my education with yet to see what was here and learned I am way in over my head in-so-far as this legal stuff about how and why Districts are the way they are, but I am now eager to learn and wish to thank you all for getting me started. My next stop will be the Blogs that are mentioned at the top for further information. But at first glance, what wgordon and Michelle said makes a lot of common sense, which now that I have awakened from my non-thinking, just reacting emotionally to the fake news, slumber I can see is indeed lacking, because it was indeed lacking in my process as I was reacting in knee-jerk fashion to the "fear porn" (another new term to me) the biased Media was feeding me. But, I can see from Michelle's response that it is a far more complicated process than I would have ever believed as I knew, in a basic sense, that Districts were to be in a "equal" (shoutout again to Orwell, and Michelle's use/mention) fashion but I'm now discovering the word "equal" (and by extension "fair" that no-one introduced yet but, I found a Post about "Define FAIR" about "equal" and "unequal" terms being redefined, how under Free Market System and our Constitution is far different from what Communists proclaim it to be, so thank you all I am learning a lot here I hadn't come across yet in my attempts to further educate myself. As for more on my background... and as I posted in my Profile and in the WalkAway Forum.... First, just an aside - my name is George and I was named George after George Orwell but have to admit it such a shame I learned nothing from his books but now see the light and reread them again and saw all the things I'd missed as well as Ayn Rand literature that I hadn't read until recently. I am going to be brief because quite frankly I am still very embarrassed by the person I used to be. I came across Brandon Straka's testimonial and I thought to myself "WOW" what had I been missing. Could I indeed have been blind and fell prey to a biased media. Short answer is HELL YES it turns out I most certainly was. I used to watch CNN and just swallowed everything they peddled, until I researched the things Brandon told me got him to take the red pill and then I was down rabbit-hole after rabbit-hole, as the saying goes, and I realized I was taken-in by and with the "fear porn" which is a word I'm seeing used more and more all across social-media these days. I was an emotional wreck, but now my mind is processing things as it should be rather than just having a knee-jerk reaction to everything. Let me back-track, because at first when someone tuned me into Brandon's video I agreed to watch it with high degree of skepticism and firmly expected I would be laughing at him - I thought hey this should be worth a few laughs. I was crying at the end, not laughing, at the sad realization that I might be just like he was. His pointing out he was one of those crying that Hillary lost, struck a cord, and surely someone that devout as a Liberal Democrat then Walking Away maybe did discover he'd been lied to, which meant I fell for those same lies and I had to know. Now I know! And I am not happy with both the Liberal lying Media nor myself. As for why am I now here on this Website? Another friend knowing how much I enjoy Music told me I had to check out this really unique page they stumbled upon under the "about" section that professed to outline "what this area Republicans actually believe" despite the lies the Media tells about them, through Music. I had to check that out. She specifically said to be careful watching the Tom MacDonald Video titled Fake Woke and "Dummies" about the non-thinking Liberal I used to be after I shared with her my WalkAway story.
To quote Orwell from Animal Farm that some are more equal than others. Clearly some population oriented communities of interest took precedence and wildly overrode what would matter for communities of interest landmass oriented wise. Which kind of spells out the bottomline in that the reality that districts must conform to population size wise legal dictates, and by starting in, at, around, Detroit dictated some of the landmass wise nonsensical layout of districts 1, 2, 3, 6,and 7, at least, as pointed out by Mr. Gordon above with Wyandotte relationship with Grass Lake? And since the initial post mentions Taylor as a major shift from existing district 12 to now being in with Livonia in a new district 2. Certainly the Downriver area as a landmass is clearly more an community of interest that would in that sense mean that Taylor would be part (in this case, 7) with Southgate, Wyandotte, Trenton, areas for no other reason than Southland Mall as an area block. But, again, clearly the realities of, by law, having to clump people by population, overruled many landmass communities of interest. And then there is the clear reality of the broad brush painting of landmass that new district 12 reflects. The one district that makes most sense if the rural grounds of Ohio border up until other factors dictated a new or other district line had to begin or end. Back to Taylor, clearly working the map to the west to lump Taylor to and with Novi as "major shopping center" districts under community of interest definitions would make more sense then moving parts of 3 Royal Oak down further into 2 to make up that landmass and population shift would make a bit more sense to me, if the population headcounts would allow. Because, again, lastly, it is population that is the bottomline dictate under law as to each district having to have about the same numbers of legal voters in them - and, yes, that becomes a whole other subject which you'll see I already commented about Election Integrity!
First thing that comes to mind is the old WWII term FUBAR.
What community of interest does Wyandotte have with Grass Lake?
