JAN 2022 UPDATE: MAPS, some updates, JAN 2022 versions at bottom]
[IMPORTANT NOTE: As I am updating the site to reflect current MICD12 first elected (under the 2010 redistricting) first had its new Representative under the new boundaries in 2013 AND (unless lawsuits may delay) are scheduled to run for the NEW DISTRICTS' BOUNDARIES in Michigan in 2022, they do not officially take effect and those Rep's take Office until Jan 2023!!!]
[Editor update/Personal note: YES - #GOP likely to take #USHouse and #USSenate in #RedWave2022, HOWEVER if #Republicans take #POTUS in #RedWave2024 likely to LOSE #USHOUSE in 2026 due to FAILURE TO STOP #FASCICRATS #GERRYMANDERING NOW creating more #Democrat leaning Districts across #USA and people who may #Vote #GOP in 22/24 go back to sleep/couches and the regular order of BASE #VOTING returns which will give them easier wins in #MidTerms2026.

First look at what SEMi area Districts will look like (from: https://michigan.mydistricting.com/legdistricting/comments/plan/128/23). ALL DISTRICT NUMBERS WILL BE COMPLETELY REWRITTEN as they use (ridiculously) DETROIT as their starting point for everything (why NOT LANSING? after all, it's the Capitol of Michigan) which tells you a lot about the MICRC (Michigan Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission) thought process and focus on Minority Majority Districts as their PRINCIPLE "COMMUNITY OF INTEREST" concerns despite such being UNCONSTITUTIONAL violation of EQUAL PROTECTIONS clause. [JLenard - Webmaster]
Some key City shuffles will be...
Dearborn and Taylor, moving out of bulk of current W12 into new MICD02 (with Livonia and Westland areas).
Wyandotte (where I am) down to Flat Rock and Westward into and past Ann Arbor/Ypsi/Saline out to Chelsea area are slated (again, IF MICRC proposed Maps hold) as part of new MICD07.
Allen Park and Lincoln Park are breaking off from 12th and joining DETROIT and up/over to the Grosse-X area/cities (and ERClub) for new MICD01. Brighton Westward to Eaton Rapids area (inc. Howell and Picney of note) part of new MICD05.
Monroe County (down to Ohio Border) will join areas Westward out to Adrian, Clinton, Tecumseh, and more, of note!
MAP WITH ENHANCEMENTS...
[IMPORTANT WED OCT 13 UPDATE...
There are actually FIVE separate proposed USHouse Maps, FOUR are very similar to the Map above (minor variances), the FIFTH (most difference) listed below. The FINAL MAP will likely be one of these TWO with potentially SLIGHT VARIATION(s).] (As you can see below, the DRASTIC DIFFERENCE in the Map below moves Southgate and Wyandotte from proposed 7 (Map above) and Taylor and Romulus from proposed 2 (Map above) into NEW DISTRICT 1 (with Detroit) - again the other FOUR proposed Maps have only minor differences to the MAP ABOVE))
Please add your COMMENTS/THOUGHTS regarding FEDERAL #USHouse DISTRICT PROPOSED CHANGES AS WELL AS FEEL FREE TO COMMENT ON ANY LOCAL (#MIHouse / #MISenate) PROPOSED MAP CHANGES in the Comments section below....

To put a bow on what George said about they clearly just ignored the whole communities of interest thing. It would have made sense to start with the upper peninsula as District 1, as I understand from looking at the existing maps would have at least been one area in Michigan that then could have retained its district number, and that they would have to merge with areas of the lower peninsula in order to spread-out and encompass more people to meet the number of people required to be a district of equal size with all the others as required by apportionment. Yes, I'm learning quickly, or at least trying to learn quickly there is an awful lot to absorb, as I've had to learn quickly after the fiasco of the 2020 election there is too much at stake to not learn and become involved, and I thank you all here for the blog about the census, apportionment, redistricting, etc, and the folks making posts and comments on this and other subject matter on this website. Anyway, back to this specific topic. That. the u.p. plus area but even then way so far down to the west part of the state and not just straight across and top slice of the l.p. to make it fit, is the only part of the proposed maps that makes near any sense to me. Then go out, from their, the u.p. and newly added area, down, around, over, whatever, from that starting point. Instead, and what was the reasoning and motivation for, insisting on beginning the process at Detroit, beyond perhaps guaranteeing that every person in Michigan would have to learn all new district numbers? I saw someone say somewhere else, not sure if it was even on this website, that if not starting in upper peninsula than it should have started in Lansing. That would make sense, Lansing is the Capital of Michigan, Detroit is not, and again to put a bow on the point of if they wanted to guarantee all new district numbers that also would have accomplished that. Not sure what it says their agenda is, I do not even care to speculate at this point, but it clearly says something about an agenda that I'll leave to others smarter than I to lay out what was likely the case!
