JAN 2022 UPDATE: MAPS, some updates, JAN 2022 versions at bottom]
[IMPORTANT NOTE: As I am updating the site to reflect current MICD12 first elected (under the 2010 redistricting) first had its new Representative under the new boundaries in 2013 AND (unless lawsuits may delay) are scheduled to run for the NEW DISTRICTS' BOUNDARIES in Michigan in 2022, they do not officially take effect and those Rep's take Office until Jan 2023!!!]
[Editor update/Personal note: YES - #GOP likely to take #USHouse and #USSenate in #RedWave2022, HOWEVER if #Republicans take #POTUS in #RedWave2024 likely to LOSE #USHOUSE in 2026 due to FAILURE TO STOP #FASCICRATS #GERRYMANDERING NOW creating more #Democrat leaning Districts across #USA and people who may #Vote #GOP in 22/24 go back to sleep/couches and the regular order of BASE #VOTING returns which will give them easier wins in #MidTerms2026.

First look at what SEMi area Districts will look like (from: https://michigan.mydistricting.com/legdistricting/comments/plan/128/23). ALL DISTRICT NUMBERS WILL BE COMPLETELY REWRITTEN as they use (ridiculously) DETROIT as their starting point for everything (why NOT LANSING? after all, it's the Capitol of Michigan) which tells you a lot about the MICRC (Michigan Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission) thought process and focus on Minority Majority Districts as their PRINCIPLE "COMMUNITY OF INTEREST" concerns despite such being UNCONSTITUTIONAL violation of EQUAL PROTECTIONS clause. [JLenard - Webmaster]
Some key City shuffles will be...
Dearborn and Taylor, moving out of bulk of current W12 into new MICD02 (with Livonia and Westland areas).
Wyandotte (where I am) down to Flat Rock and Westward into and past Ann Arbor/Ypsi/Saline out to Chelsea area are slated (again, IF MICRC proposed Maps hold) as part of new MICD07.
Allen Park and Lincoln Park are breaking off from 12th and joining DETROIT and up/over to the Grosse-X area/cities (and ERClub) for new MICD01. Brighton Westward to Eaton Rapids area (inc. Howell and Picney of note) part of new MICD05.
Monroe County (down to Ohio Border) will join areas Westward out to Adrian, Clinton, Tecumseh, and more, of note!
MAP WITH ENHANCEMENTS...
[IMPORTANT WED OCT 13 UPDATE...
There are actually FIVE separate proposed USHouse Maps, FOUR are very similar to the Map above (minor variances), the FIFTH (most difference) listed below. The FINAL MAP will likely be one of these TWO with potentially SLIGHT VARIATION(s).] (As you can see below, the DRASTIC DIFFERENCE in the Map below moves Southgate and Wyandotte from proposed 7 (Map above) and Taylor and Romulus from proposed 2 (Map above) into NEW DISTRICT 1 (with Detroit) - again the other FOUR proposed Maps have only minor differences to the MAP ABOVE))

Subject: URGENT: Redistricting Commission Releases Final Proposed Maps
Ronald -- The Michigan Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission (MICRC) has released its final proposed draft maps for public consideration. As the State Constitution requires a 45-day public engagement period for the proposed maps, the public is given the opportunity to provide comments on each of the plans. The Commission is scheduled to reconvene on Thursday, December 30th to take a final vote on which plans to adopt. As a reminder, the Commission is tasked with drawing the maps of Michigan's Congressional Districts, State Senate, State House of Representatives. The Commission is currently seeking comment on the following proposed maps: Congressional Chestnut Birch Apple Lange Szetela State Senate Cherry Palm Linden State House of Representatives Pine Magnolia Hickory Of the five Congressional District maps, the Michigan Republican Party is supporting the Birch plan and it is the best map for Kent County. It keeps Kent County whole within one Congressional District, without splitting it up and including different metropolitan areas of the state like the Chestnut Plan does with Muskegon and the Apple Plan does with Kalamazoo. The Lange plan is also a good plan because it keeps Kent County whole within one congressional district and includes neighboring municipalities of counties that identify with the Grand Rapids metropolitan area. It is also the only plan presented thus far that keeps both Kent and Ottawa counties whole within their own congressional district. The three State Senate and three State House plans each have the same map configuration for Kent County. The Michigan Republican Party is supporting the Palm State Senate Plan and Mangolia State House Plan. These plans can use some tweaks for Kent County, CLICK HERE to view suggestions on how the Commission can draw these better. This is our LAST opportunity to use our voice to make an impact on which of the three plans for each the Commission adopts. Please consider doing the following TODAY to help us in our mission to get the Commission to adopt fair maps: 1. COMMENT ON PROPOSED MAPS: Comment on the Birch Congressional District Plan and Lange Congressional District Plan stating your support. Comment on the Chestnut Congressional District Plan and Apple Congressional District Plan stating your opposition. To find talking points you can use in your comments, CLICK HERE. Also, comment on the Palm State Senate Plan and Magnolia State House Plan stating your support and changes you would like the Commission to incorporate for your respective districts. To find talking points you can use in your comments, CLICK HERE. 2. PROVIDE WRITTEN TESTIMONY: CLICK HERE to submit a written comment in the public comment portal, for your area. State your support of the Birch and/or Lange Congressional District Plans and why you favor them. Discuss your home's respective State Senate and House of Representative district maps and how the Commission can further strengthen these. The plans the Commission votes to adopt on December 30 are the FINAL maps for the next 10 years. This is the single most important thing we can all do to prepare for the 2022 election cycle. Please contact me with any questions. Sincerely, Mike Sullivan Political Director, Kent GOP
